Voice Sync helps your teleprompter move with your delivery instead of forcing you to speak at a fixed scrolling speed. You can slow down, pause, improvise, or skip a line, and ScrollVox keeps the script close to where you are speaking.

What Voice Sync does

Traditional auto-scroll asks you to follow the screen. Voice Sync reverses that relationship: ScrollVox listens for the words in your script and advances as you say them.

That means you can:

  • pause to breathe or emphasize a point;
  • change your pace between sections;
  • recover after a short improvisation;
  • skip ahead without manually finding your place.

Voice Sync works best when the spoken delivery stays reasonably close to the written script. Small changes are natural, but rewriting entire paragraphs while recording can make any voice-following system work harder.

1. Prepare a script for speaking

Write for the ear, not for the page. Use short sentences, everyday words, and visible paragraph breaks. If one sentence is difficult to say in a single breath, split it.

Read the script aloud once before recording. This quickly reveals phrases that look fine in writing but feel unnatural when spoken.

A clear script is the most important part of a natural teleprompter setup.

2. Open your script and choose Voice Sync

Open the script in ScrollVox, enter the prompting view, and select the voice-following option. Allow microphone access if iOS asks for permission. The microphone is needed so the app can match your speech to the script.

Position the prompt window as close to the camera lens as practical. Keeping your eye line near the lens makes the delivery feel more direct.

3. Set comfortable reading controls

Before recording, adjust the text size, line spacing, prompt width, and highlight position. The best settings let you understand a line at a glance rather than reading word by word.

A useful starting point is:

  • large enough text to read without leaning forward;
  • short lines that do not require wide eye movement;
  • two or three upcoming lines visible;
  • the active line close to camera level.

4. Speak naturally and let the script follow

Start with your normal speaking voice. Do not speed up to “help” the teleprompter. Finish thoughts, use pauses, and look into the lens at the end of important sentences.

If you need to improvise, keep the added thought concise and return to a recognizable phrase in the script. ScrollVox can then match your position and continue.

5. If the script loses your place

First, say the next written phrase clearly. If the room is noisy, reduce background sound or move the device closer. Also confirm that ScrollVox has microphone permission and that the correct input is active.

For a difficult section:

  1. shorten long sentences;
  2. remove repeated phrases;
  3. add a paragraph break before the transition;
  4. rehearse the first few words of the new section.

Quick recording checklist

  • The script sounds natural when read aloud.
  • Microphone access is enabled.
  • Text is large enough to scan quickly.
  • The active line sits close to the camera lens.
  • You are speaking at your own pace.
  • Pauses are intentional, not rushed.
